They have no choice on the flashy refreshes, because they don’t have enough memory on the device to fully pre-render the entire book or range of pages that you get with Adobe Reader on a PC. Until they solve this problem, I can’t buy any e-Book reader as it would cause me problems with my migraines.
are the books you read in color? why wait for a color kindle? why not just buy a laptop
Dude, if you hold out for a color version, you might have to miss your own 2500 books. LOL.
If you think about it, most people don’t even read 3500 books in their lifetime. I could read a book a week until I’m 80, and I would only get to 3380 books. (Not including newspaper and magazines though). That’s a pretty good deal if you consider that. I’ll be holding out for a color version though.
“Built-In PDF Reader: Native PDF support allows you to carry and read all of your personal and professional documents on the go” maybe you should watch the video, or look in the more info tab.
hey i recognize that outdoor scene, that’s UW in Seattle. go Huskies!
Good affordable color is a long way off, probably years rather than months. If you want a Kindle then there’s no point in waiting, if you just want an e-ink device then waiting might get you something better, but then where do you draw the line?
Can anyone who has one of these tell me if the screen of the DX is big enough to display sheet music in pdf format clear enough for performing use?
It’s free 24/7 wireless access but it’s slow access (which is ok by me if they keep it free). Though normally $30 to $60/month for that kind of always-available access, it’s built into the price of the units.
Those flashy refreshes annoys me, and wish it had a backlight/sidescreenlgith for reading when there’s low light.
So I’ve been looking into buying a Kindle 2 or a Kindle DX, and I understand why the price is so steep, built in 3G, no service fee’s etc. but I’m still kind of confused. You see I’d like to buy a Kindle and never look back but you can’t do that yet. If I could put the books I already own on my Kindle like the CD’s I own on my iPod….then we’re in business.
I completely agree with you!!! Actually, I’m sort of against buying first gen products, or right when things come out. I like to wait a couple of weeks, but otherwise, I agree, you can’t just wait for something better.
Nice work. keep it up. mean time come for social media marketing for esteembpo**com sdfsdr
Yeah, you’re right. In few month’s there will be something better- color screen; textured screen; holograms- they’re all coming!
Don’t buy now you fool! Wait! The next one is going to be way better. In a few years they’ll beam the stories directly to your brain! Wait! It’ll get cheaper too! Wait for it! Thanks, but I like to enjoy things now. If you live your life ignoring what’s in front of you for what’s next, you’ll lose for sure. Try that with food and you’ll starve.
I’m sure $500 black and white palm pilots were appealing at sometime, too. Just give it a few years, we’ll see color $100 ebook readers by then.
LOL… reading all your comments is hilarious. I wonder if you folks are the target Kindle buyers.
It will be obsolete in two years. The next generation will be color. And after that there will be video.
i highly doubt they would give you a device that allows you to have free calls through the 3G internet. Besides try holding that beast up to your ear…
If it support 3G does it mean i could use this device as a cell-phone ?
it includes free (payed by amazon) 3G connection to sprint’s 3g
I fear for sony
yet 500$ is not cheap
Supports Kindle DX memory cards???
The only bad thing is the screen is black and white.
We can make an arrangement…
actually no it has free 3G internet provided from a telephone company on the device
