Kindle 2 outside of America?
So I’m American, but I live in Germany. I was wondering if I’m on a network outside of the US, will the Kindle download German books?
I really want this, but I don’t know if it will work well internationally. Has anyone tried it out yet?

The Kindle 2 has already added international wireless support since last month. You can see the question "How will I know if I am in a wireless coverage area?" in the official page here for details:

I like my Kindle 2 a lot. I remember I read these reviews when I decided to get it:

You can find Kindle books in German edition here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%255Fss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3Dgerman%2520edition%26url%3Dnode%253D154606011&tag=more_info-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
Of course, you will be able to get any books even if you live in Germany, including English books and books in other languages. It works the same, just the wireless internet provider in Germany is not Sprint and it is other network provider.
And see here for all the books you can download. It may have $2 added as wireless download fee, but if you choose to download the ebooks on your computer first then copy to the Kindle device through USB cable, the $2 download fee will be waived.

Finally, I recommend you this review from a top reviewer and a book lover:

Hope this helps.
I’m in Japan and I get my books in english. But my account is registered American as I’m a military dependent with a US credit card, etc. Are you looking for english or german books? Incidently, I download all my books via the USB cable and have been since I got it many months ago since I don’t have an international kindle.
Yes, the Kindle 2 now ships to Germany, and free internet access is provided as well. You can click the link "Live Outside the U.S.?" on their homepage here for details:

At the time when international function not added to the Kindle, many people are using it outside America already. They just download books using computer and copy them to the Kindle. See this discussion about how people work it out in the past:
