Is this laptop good enough or should i get a new one?
I have this sony laptop and i just need it for online school, research, web surfing, chatting and music and watching movies. This is its specifications:

Is that good enough or should i sell it and get another one? Is 2GB RAM enough?

That laptop is fine for what you want to do. I wouldn’t spend more unless I was planning on hi-end gaming. Dual Core 1.83 is more than enough for what you want.
Definitely upgrade to 2GB of memory if you haven’t done that already.
Figure on a new Microsoft OS in a couple of years, for which you’ll probably need an upgrade. No point in upgrading twice.

For a laptop, that’s perfectly adequate.
is that a good laptop ? for every thing you said you wanted to do EXECEPT watch movies. yes for now it will do. soon you will want to do more with it. with 2gb ram max will be fine for win xp but. as for doing anything graphical dump it asap.
In reality the computer you have is just fine for your purpose. If you have vista you would benefit from another gig of ram for xp you may not see much of a change. My guess is that your computer is running ddr2 memory and it is cheap if this is the case I would add the extra gig of memory.
