Hi im receiving a ebook reader as a birthday gift. I have been asked to decide which one i would like (as i have a few specifications i would prefer) any help or advice would be greatly appreciate as i am stuck already!!!
I am looking for one that definitely has a back light (as i normally read in bed), i would also like to be able to get my books,pdf files (so i can read work documents on it as well as books) etc,…from where ever i want and not by tied down to specific site (eg. the kindle i believe you can only buy EBooks from amazon) and also a decent memory (possible expandable) and a good battery life.

I read on a few websites that kindle does not allow readers to borrow books from local libraries! I haven’t been able to get a confirmation on this rumor…but if its true, THAT SUCKS! I have been looking into the different kinds of ebook readers and most people seem to favor the Amazon Kindle…but if i have to pay for everybook i want to read, I think i might go with one of their competitors that support the overdrive library system….Why would Amazon not make a reader that supports PDF files???? at least that is what I understood from the articles i read…..What is the best kind of ebook reader to buy THAT YOU CAN BORROW LIBRARY BOOKS WITH??????

I can’t purchase ebooks in amazon and barnes & noble because im in asia. they only have limited ebooks available in our area. Then i tried mobipocket but i can’t install it’s ebook reader. The error message was "the installation package could not be opened blah blah blah.. contact vendor to verify if this is a valid Windows installer package. Can anyone suggest where i can buy an ebook that allows purchases in our area and at the same time allows installation of its ebook reader?

I have been weighing the pros and cons of two eBook Readers; the latest Amazon Kindle with 3G + Wi-Fi, and the Barnes and Noble "Nook" with 3G + Wi-Fi. It’s been quite hard because both of them have their ups and downs.
