I am having a problem connecting to my wireless. can you help me? I just recieved my kindle 2
those of you who complain about ‘black flicker’ obviously don’t understand how this technology works: it’s refreshing the entire screen when you do something like turn a page, then when it’s a static image of the next page again, it doesn’t use power. This is one of the reasons you can go for weeks without charging it (with wifi off). It’s at the very root of how this technology works. get over it.
Honestly, I do not understand the appeal of this rather expensive gadget. I got a chance to play with Kindle 2 and, aside from making me wonder “why”, it has quite a few technical issues. First, the constant screen flickering – from boot up to menus – gets very annoying very quickly. Second, the thing is slow, excruciatingly slow. Controls are small, fiddly and flimsy. If you carry this gadget in your pocket, that’s where most of these buttons will end up. Text-to-speech quality is primitive.

A question to Kindle 2 owners. Can you fit it in the back pocket of your jeans? I can fit my Sony PRS-505 in every pair of pants I tried so far (not trying to start a war, honest!
and would want to get an idea of the physical size. It looks larger than the Sony.
The startup time on the Sony is also fairly long — probably about 30 to 40 seconds. Is the kindle faster? I don’t mean coming out of sleep. A complete start up.
Am I able to change the settings so that it doesn’t flicker black when changing the page? I find that quite annoying
